Ajrakh is a traditional form of hand block printing that originated in the Kutch region of Gujarat, with roots tracing back over 4000 years.
This textile art is entirely handmade — from fabric preparation to dyeing and printing. It involves the use of wooden blocks intricately carved with symmetrical, geometrical, or floral designs. The complete process includes 14–21 steps, such as washing, dyeing, printing, and drying.
Ajrakh is commonly printed on cotton, modal, silk, and mul mul fabrics, making it a breathable, comfortable, and soft choice — ideal for both ethnic and contemporary wear.
